Understanding Hip Pain
Hip pain often shows up as groin discomfort, stiffness after rest or pain that radiates to the thigh. It can come from arthritis, muscle or tendon strain, bursitis or joint damage, and identifying the exact cause early helps avoid unnecessary restriction of daily activity.
Common Symptoms
- Groin or outer hip pain that worsens with walking
- Stiffness after sitting, sleeping or long car rides
- Limping or a change in walking pattern
- Pain while putting on shoes, socks or sitting cross-legged
- Clicking or catching sensation in the hip joint
Treatment Approach
Early hip pain usually responds to physiotherapy, weight management and anti-inflammatory care. Moderate cases may benefit from targeted injections and gait correction. When the hip joint has significant cartilage loss or arthritis that limits daily function despite treatment, hip replacement is evaluated as a long-term solution.
